Kingman Golden Eagles Aux. Field #1 Taking Shape!

Aux. Field #1…
We aim to be flying again, soon…
… on our OWN field!

We have a paid lease on a patch of desert and March 1st marked the Groundbreaking of the Kingman Golden Eagles RC Club Aux. Field #1… and here it is, the 3rd of March, and we already have the heavy corner-post pilings in place as well as the fence-stakes planted every 15-feet around the perimeter of our new flying site!

There it is... the "main gate"... and a long row of fence posts... not too BAD for the first few days since groundbreaking!

Ariel pics curtosey of Rick Atkeson!
Rick Atkeson flew his Hubson 502S drone to take these pics of the site. … looks kind of like a Mars landing!

On our Facebook page, Karen Smith wrote: The Kingman Golden Eagles have acquired a new flying site and members have been working hard, daily, to line out the runway location, prepare and clear the perimeter to ready it for fencing, dig holes and place corner posts which were donated by Jon Wilson and our new landlord. Plans are underway to have the runway bladed and compacted. The blade work and water truck will be donated by Ben Poole and his Father which is of huge value to Aeromodel Geotextile Model Aircraft runway material!the club and is greatly appreciated!! Arrangements are being made for the rental of a large vibrating roller. Pauly and Dan are to begin building the flight stations.

Our plans for the new field include the installation of Aeromodel Geotextile Runway “fabric” for the model airstrip as well as for the infield and pit areas. Our runway should be about 600-feet, smooth and clean… and there’s going to be Drone-flying Pads… and a drone race-course?? … I cannot wait to start flying there… and, at the rate things are going, we may not have to wait much longer!

Our members have been hard at work!

We scored the help of tractor to push our fence posts into the dirt.SATURDAY, 3/3/18, was fence-post-driving day… and luckily, we scored the help of a tractor to push those stakes into the ground. (We had been kind of dreading that physical labor and… that tractor did it for us! … awesome!)

MT-Bob says he wore-out his OLD shovel!

A bunch of us were there, ready to work… but, with that tractor on the job, there wasn’t much left for us to do but “supervise” and enjoy the doughnuts that Ben brought!

Paul, Larry and Ben held the fence stakes in position as the tractor pushed them into place.

Great to see Boyd at the field this morning!

This was one WINDY weekend, but at that time in the morning (we started at 7 AM) the breeze was only just getting started.

Kingman Golden Eagles RC Club Auxiliary Field #1… off to a good start! Learn all about the plans: come out to the next club meeting (time and date still TBD) or give Jon a call. We are all excited about our new flying field… and there’s still plenty to do!
